Description
The purpose of this research is to clarify the relationship between actual situation and relevant factors to take a nursing care of the children whose parents are in the terminal stage of cancer. We obtained information from 118 nurses who work in medical institution for cancer with 300 beds by means of anonymous questionnaires about the nursing care of the children and their parents. As a result, 1. There were 35 nurses(29.7%)who have the learning experience of a nursing care of a child with the parents of terminal stage of cancer. However, 52 nurses(44.1%)had not held a conference. 2. The highest average value in the questionnaires of nursing care of children was obtained from the item “To be concerned to let the child stay beside the patient during visiting hours”, while the lowest average value was from the item “To be concerned to let the child easily talk to the patient and expose the emotion”. 3. The most relevant factors were estimated to be “Enforcement of conference”, “Experience of working in palliative care unit”, “Age of nurse” and “Experience of study and training on the nursing care of the children”(Coefficient of determination: Adjusted R2 = 0.314).
