Description
The purpose of this study was to investigate recognition of visit nursing and social supports in Schizophrenia patient, and to identify the essential support for their home health care. We sent questionnaire to 79 patients in order to examine about their actual care and social supports. We obtained 38 answers from the patients, and they were 21 men and 17 women, average age 52.1 years old and average illness history was 20.8 years. The most patients cared with visit nursing for more than 3 years (52.6%). The content of the visit nursing was “Independence support to patient” and ”Support to family”. The social support score was higher in women compared with men (p<0.05). Behavioral support score was high in the patients who feel that nurses care to their family. This suggests that visiting nurses can maximize the supportive role of the family for the person receiving home-based treatment through developing relations with the family.
