Description
The aim of this study was to define the recognition for the career development and the nursing master course of our university among Shimane prefecture nurses. We analyzed data from 1,507 nurses. Rate of recognition about each course of our master program was 20% for nurses. Recognition of the day and night classes, long-term course, and the requirement for the entrance examination was 23 %, 11 %, 27%, respectively. We found that the information about our master course was not spread throughout nurses in their workplaces. Though there were 217 nurses who met the requirement for the entrance examination of the master course, there were only 20 nurses who hoped to go to our master course. Many applicants of the master course wished to become a specialist of oncology nursing, critical patients care and so on, while continuing their present job. They also wanted a support system to be organized by their hospitals or institution.
