Descriptions
We summarized English literatures which reported problems of the exceptional parents, five years ago. (M.Inanami, N.Nishi, T.Ogura, T.Onishi : A view of the new studies of the exceptional parents. Memoires of Shimane University, Faculty of Education, 15;27-42, 1982.)
We, again, reviewed those literatures published during the period between 1984 and 1986 on the following ten topics : (1)emotional difficulties of parents of the handicapped (2)hope of the handicapped (3)parentalgroups supporting parents of the handicapped (4)Public Law 94-142 and the 1981 Education Act (5)communication and language (6)vocational training and employment (7)parent-child relationship (8)parent-teacher partnership (9)parental education (10)LD children, child abuse, physical handicapped, visually handicapped, and hearing impaired.
There are differences of cultures and educational systems between English speaking countries and Japan. But, we hope, special teachers in Japan have many suggestions about spirit and techniques to change special education so that the handicapped may have a pride and real jobs.
