本研究では, 中学校美術科において扱われることの少ない｢金属素材｣に焦点を絞り, 教材開発を行った｡金属について素材研究を行ったり, 個人作品制作である造形表現の研究を行ったりしながら, 学校現場で取り扱う教科の題材としてどのようなものが適切であるか検討した｡そして実際に中学生を対象としてワークショップ形式で体験教室を行い, 教材としての実験,検証を行った｡また, 学部での授業においても本研究に合わせて教材開発を行ったものもまとめた｡
