The characteristics of consolidation of partly saturated soils compacted wet of optimum moisture content is changed with load increment ratio ⊿P/P_0.
The consolidation curves plotted with √<t> and log t methods are classified into three types similarly as that of normally consolidated soils. Moreover, the compress ibility of compacted soils decreases with the decrease of ⊿P/P_0. This behaviour is alike as quasi-preconsolidation of normally consolidated soils.
The rate of secondary consolidation dε/d log t is independent on ⊿P/P_0 in the range of ⊿P/P_0≧0.2 but the displacement during consolidation is reduced with the decrease of ⊿P/P_0, so the influence of secondary consolidation grows with the decrease of ⊿P/P_0. In the case of ⊿P/P_0≦0.2, the great part of consolidation is progressed as secondary consolidation.
