Descriptions
The purpose of this study is to find a better audiovisual teaching method in home economics education.
The subjects were the girls students of a junior high school, who were divided into two groups : the experimental-group (instructed by audiovisual teaching materials) and a control-group (instructed by standard lecture method). We gave three expermental lessons, and the effect of each lesson was analyzed comparatively. The results were as follows :
1) Generally, impressive scenes in the films, or sound films, or the projection of the films two times worked effectively for memorizing and understanding a lesson. The results suggest both the necessity of systematic and premeditated preparations of the materials and appropriate applications of them.
2) Several cases in which the audiovisual teaching intensified the students' sensory cognitions were observed.
3) Most of the students reacted affirmatively to the classes in which audiovisualteaching materials were used.
