種審議会で指摘される現代の子どもたちの危機的状況に対して学校体育は何が出来るかという問題意識から、教育学部生に小・中学校時代の体育について調査を実施し教科の特性及び課題把握を試みた。体育は子どもたちに大変好まれている教科である。授業が運動技術の習得とともに人間関係を学ぶ重要な機会となっている。学習したことは、日常生活で役立ち生活を豊かにしている。従って教育になくてはならぬ教科として認識されている、などが明らかになった。
