Early rice seedlings were cultured by hydropoinc method in which PCP was added at logarithmic levels of concentration. Total dry weight of roots at each concentration was measured after a prescribed time of cultivation. The median inhibitory concentration of PCP for root development was estmated by Fiiney's probit analysis method for quantitative response data. Susceptibilities in some varieties to the growth inhibitory effect of PCP were comparedat a selected concentration and the significance of difference between varieties was determined by Duncan's multiple range test.
