This paper will offer the reprinting and bibliography of “A hanging scroll used for the draft of waka poems in Kadowaki Shigeaya's own hand” owned by Professor Toyoji Hara. Kadowaki Shigeaya is a classical Japanese literature scholar and a government official in charge of religious ceremonies who served Tottori Domain and the Meiji Government from the end of the Edo period through the Meiji Restoration. It is thought that this material was excerpted from the draft of waka poems written by Shigeaya and mounted in a scroll. Shigeaya’s personal collection of poetry is “Kakuen-syu”, but the poems were selected by others after his death, and there are many things that need clarifying concerning the original source materials and its editing process. Although this material contains only 52 poems, it was written by Shigeaya himself and is an important material in understanding the process of completing “Kakuen-syu”.
