We propose a safety-instruction program for chemistry experiments as university education being applicable for teacher-training courses. We therefore compare syllabi for chemistry experiments lectured at faculties of education, national universities in Chugoku area. The comparison demonstrates remarkable emphasis of experimental safety at the lecture “Chemistry Experiments I” performed at our faculty of Shimane University. On the other hand, our “Kankyo Terakoya” program, powered by a MEXT “Good Practice” performance, takes students to a tour which indicates disaster-prevention facilities equipped in our faculty building. We conclude that a combination of theoretical and practical lessons concerned with safety education in chemistry courses may provide effective control of safety for students of teacher-training courses.
