Description
Varietal differences of the influence of 4 harvesting intervals in the following characters were observed among 5 varieties.
1. Yield : On the whole Roma, E. S.-24, and Campbell 135 is good, Campbell 146 and Early Pack is poor.
While the yield on the 10 days interval of harvesting is poorer than that on the 5 days and 7 days in every varieties, but the degree of its reduction in Roma and E.S.-24 shows a slight decrease.
The yield on the 12 days is on the decrease in every varieties, but the degree on Roma is low.
2. Percentage of sugar and solid content : The influence of treatments is hardly to be found.
3. Skin color : The more the interval prolongs, the more the Hunters index a/b increases on Roma and Campbell 146, while the value of E.S.-24 goes in the opposite direction.
Early Pack and Campbell 135 show gradually increasing until at 7 days, but they decreased at 12 days.
