寒冷地に居住する軽度要介護高齢者の歩行支援ニーズの実態

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the needs of walking support for frail elderly people in a cold region. The subjects were 10 elderly people, consisting of 3 males and 7 females, at day care service centers.
A fact-finding survey on the needs of walking support and walking equipments was performed using a questionnaire. As a result, walking sticks were most common walking equipments, for the elderly people followed by the walkers. Even in the subjects who could walk without equipments, they needed the help of some equipments to stand up from the floor or the chair. For walking outside, sites for rest on the way, streetlights for walking at night, and roads were required. As walking equipments, the necessity of walking sticks suitable for the physical conditions and the indoor environment and the importance of fashionable and economic walkers for elderly people were indicated. Furthermore, safety walking equipments should be developed when winter clothes are worn in the snow season because the subjects lived in a cold region and environmental improvement should also be required for safety walking.
　本研究の目的は,寒冷地に居住する軽度要介護高齢者の歩行支援に関するニーズを明らかにすることである。調査対象者は,寒冷地に居住し,デイケアを利用している男性3名,女性7名である。調査内容は,歩行支援に関するニーズ,補助具の使用状況等について質問紙での聞き取り調査を行った。その結果,現在使用している歩行補助具では杖が多く,次いでシルバーカーであった。歩行支援に関するニーズでは,ある程度歩行が自立していても,床や椅子から立ち上がる際に手をつく台等の手助けを必要としていた。歩行時には,途中で休憩できる場所の確保,夜間街灯の設置,道路の舗装整備などの要望があった。補助具では,杖では個人の身体状況や家屋環境に合わせること,シルバーカーでは,ファッション性,経済的な問題等を考慮することに関する意見及び要望があった。寒冷地のため,防寒具着用時や,積雪時でも安全に使用できる用具の開発と環境整備が求められていた。
