明治期における山陰地方沿岸の海図の整備過程

海軍の水路部作製の海図、水路誌をもとにして、海図が全国で整備されていく明治期を対象として、山陰地方沿岸における海図の整備過程について検討した。沿岸測量の時期を検討したところ、山陰地方沿岸では明治期には5 つの時期に分けて測量されたことが判明した。明治後期には山陰地方沿岸の測量はほぼ完了し、海図が刊行されたことが判明した。今後海図を時系列で悉皆的に把握すれば、近代の港湾や沿岸地域の景観の変遷とその特徴を押さえることができる。

The purpose of this research is to examine development process of nautical charts along the coast of the San’in region, for the Meiji period, when nautical charts were developed nationwide based on the nautical charts and sailing directions created by the Hydrographic Department of the Navy. As a result of examining the timing of coastal surveys, it was found that the coastal areas of the San’in region were surveyed in five periods during the Meiji period. In addition, it was found that the survey of the coast of the San’in region was almost completed, and that nautical charts had been published in the late Meiji period. In the future, if we research nautical charts chronologically and exhaustively, we will be able to grasp the changes and characteristics of the landscape in harbors and coastal areas in modern Japan.
