Description | 1. Process of Breeding
Varieties of tomato for processing were selected over and over again for several years with regard to the color tone and the hardness from the mutants of a variety of tomato for processing, VF-13L, which was obtained in America in 1966. A variety, named TE-30 in 1974, was breeded as the most excellent one in both color tone and hardness. 2. Color Tone of the Fruits The measurements of the color of the fruit surface and the fruit juice gave the a/b values of 1.8-2.1 and 2.3-2.9 respectively ; showing that the variety has the most excellent color tone among all varieties examined. 3. Hardness of the Fruits The hardness of the fruits of the variety was 0.75k on the day of harvesting and 0.78k after five days. The fruits of the variety is harder than those of any other varieties. |
