Abstract
英語日常語彙について山田・田中（1988）で検討を試みた。本稿では，アメリカ英語・文化を取り扱った日本人の英語学習者用の教材から，日常語彙を中心に取り上げて検討することにする。この教材は，VOA 放送の中でも「アメリカ人の日常生活や文化の断面や縮図を浮きぼりにして，わかりやすく紹介する This is America という番組で放送されたもの」のスクリプト原稿をテキストにしたものである。このテキストが扱う内容は次の10項目である。
<tt> 1. American Television 2. Credit Cards 3. Supermarkets 4. Teenagers 5. Commuting 6. Physical Fitness 7. Newspapers 8. American Family 9. Automobile Industry 10. Academy Awards </tt> 本稿では，次のカテゴリーから日常語を取り上げて検討する。 (i) テキストの本文中に出てくる語 (ii) テキストのアメリカを紹介する囲み記事に出てくる語 (iii) テキストの Teacher's Manual に出てくる語 (iv) (i)～(iii) に関連すると思われる語 |
