The jaspar from Mt.Kasenzan occurs in two pyroxene andesite of Miocene age as vein form.
Their chemical composition are shown in Fig.1. The SiO_2 content is in the range of 84 to 92 wt%. Their <Al>_2O_3 content are about 2.5 to 4. K_2O and FeO content is about 1.5 to 2.5. Generally they are rather rich in FeO and MgO, and poor in <Al>_2O_3 and K_2O compared to the jaspar from Futagozuka, Ishikawa prefecture, shown in Fig.2. X-ray powder diffraction patterns are shown in Fig.3 together with the jasper from Futagozuka. Higher content of <Al>_2O_3 and K_2O on the jaspar from Futagozuka would be from orthoclase shown in Fig.3. |
