Studies on the Tomato for Manufacturing(6) : On the Property of Italian-tomatoes for Manufacturing

Description
1. The properties of six strains in Italian tomatoes such as SM1, SM2, SM3, "Italian-C_1", American "San marzano" and "Roma" were investigated. According to results these strains may be devided into four groups as follows.
(1) SM 1
(2) SM 2 (Italian C_1)
(3) SM 3 (American San marzano)
(4) Roma (A select breed)
2. In yield SM 1 and SM 2 were excellent compared with others. and could not find singnificant difference between "Roma" , "Italian C_1" and American "San marzano" at 5% level.
3. Colour of fruits was measured by phtoelectric spectrophotometer. In substance, there was little difference and almost of them were redish orange. But "Roma" and "Italian C_1" were slightly yellow than others.
4. SM 2 was quite similar to "Italian C_1" in (shape of fruit and leaf), and the origin was seemed to be the same. Though in points of growth and yield SM 2 was superior to "Italian C_1". It is assumed to be natural because SM 2 had been cultured for several years in Shimane and had been selected as to be acceptable for in this distrct year by year.
