A few sowmills with hydroulic motor are found in mountainous regions in Japan and still in operation.
The locations of mills are shown in Fig.1 and Table 1.
The kinds of the hydroulic motors are clasfied as Follows.(shown Table 2.)
A group ・・・・・Gravify water wheel (7 ~10HP) ①~⑬
B 〃 ・・・・・・Pelton wheel (15~25HP) ⑧~⑪
C 〃 ・・・・・・Francies furbine (17~33HP) ②~⑫
Sowmill machineries of these mills are shown in Table 4.
Fig. 2. shows the relations between geometical and practical power. These results show that the practical efficiences decreased with extending the geometical power of scwmills. One of the reson is, I consider, that the method of power transmission via flatbelts are unsuitable for such sommill machrneries,
