Description | We reported the process of collaborative mother's counseling for the mother whose son was stuttering and enuresis.
We explored the cause of his stuttering through the mother's counseling and further focused the discussion on the process of the changes of her interpersonal relationship. The results was as follows ; 1) The child-mother relationship ; She cared him with highly sensitive attention since his birth. In the beginning of the interviw she thought that the cause of her son's stuttering had come from her husband. But as the counsaling developed she became aware the relationship of herself and her child, and had an insight into her child's problems. 2) The feeling toward her husband ; She had the considerable negative feeling and blamed for husband at first. Gradually she became understand his situation to some extent. 3) The relationship with her mother-in-law ; The relation between bride and mother-in-law became bad on the latter half of the therapy period since they lived together. But on account of that mother-in-law entered a hospital, it was stable for a while. 4) The relationship with her own mother ; She depended on her own mother extremely. As her mother also entered a hospital, she must manage the mother's shop by herself unavoidably. This opportunity contributed to her independence. 5) Neighborhood relations ; At first she was isolated from her neighborhood because of her personality and house moving. Her son went to the kindergarten and she had a reliable companion who was willing to take a counselor's role. As the counseling developed and the change of the interpersonal relationship occured, she recaptured her maternal confidence which enabled her to handle him more adequately, and his symptoms disappeared. |
