Abstract
辞書編集は言うまでもなく，言語研究一般においてもコーパスの果たす役割が注目されてきている。筆者は幸運にも辞書編集に初めて本格的に大規模なコーパスを活用した Collins Cobuild English Language Dictionary (Collins ELT, 1987) で知られる Cobuild を訪れ，現在構築中の Cobuind Corpus，通称 Bank of English に1993年4月1日から同年9月30日までの6カ月間にわたってアクセスする機会を得た。本稿では，Bank of English の内容を詳しく紹介してみたい。
