The recent researches and the basic data about the plant diversity of Shimane prefecture were given an outline. The urgency and importance of the database construction of the plant diversity of Shimane were discussed on a global viewpoint. We are doing an effort to establish a herbarium and an information-sharing platform including plant specimens and the database for education,scie ntific research and the plant conservation of Shimane. The plant specimens more than１０thousands were made in our department recently.
