島根県松江市における初期テレビ受容について

抄録・要旨

本研究は、島根県松江市における初期テレビ受容を、文献資料と聞き取りを組み合わせて明らかにした。都市部の状況を中心に構成されてきたテレビ史の通説は、日本テレビが設置した街頭テレビによってテレビという存在が人々に知れ渡り、皇太子ご成婚パレードをきっかけにテレビが各家庭に普及したというものであるが、日本テレビの街頭テレビが設置されたのは主に首都圏であり、松江市では皇太子ご成婚時にはまだテレビ放送は始まっていなかった。本研究では、文字資料にはほとんど残っていない、地方のごく普通の人々がテレビという新しいメディアをいかに受容していったかを、オーラル・ヒストリーを活用して描き出し、松江市の場合は都市的な側面と、地方・農村的な側面の両面があったことを明らかにした。

抄録・要旨

　This research explores early television reception in Matsue, Shimane Prefecture, Japan, using the mixed methods of documentary research and oral history. The history of television in Japan has been constructed to deal with events that took place in populated cities. According to a commonly accepted view, Japanese people began to watch the gaito terebi, or street televisions, set up by Nihon TV in the early 1950s, and then the diffusion of home television caused by Japan’s Crown Prince Akihito, Princess Michiko’s wedding parade in 1958. However, street TV had hardly been installed outside the metropolitan area, and many areas, including Matsue, had not yet started television broadcasting by the time of the royal wedding. While there are few documents on how people in rural areas of Japan encountered early television, this research conducted oral history interviews and have revealed that the early reception of television in Matsue area has urban aspects as well as those of rural.
