Descriptions
About heat conduction and convection, the following two investgations were pursued.
A ; What sort of conceptions about heat conduction would be brought by children, when the teacher varied the inclination or the form of copper wires to be heated ?
B ; How many children have recognized the relation between mass conservation and changes of volume after heating or cooling ?,
The results of investigatlons are summarized as follows :
A : 1) The four different ratio of answers were obtained on the speedness of heat conductivity on straight wire, upward ; ca. 20%, horizon ; ca. 30%, downward ; ca. 20%, and the other 30% answers ; same speed in all cases.
2) When the notched copper wire was used, about 30% of answers indicated the heat conduction would be delayed.
B : The majority of children have recognized about the changes of volume after heating, but have not done about the relation mentioned above.
