Descriptions |
Jasper is a impure natural quartz rock, dark green to light pale green in color, naturally vitreous in appearance.
Jasper as article and fragment occurs from the Historic Sites of Yayoi and Kofun ages in Izumo district. The obvious questions are how and from what is the Jasper derived. It is a important task to clarify the origin of Jasper for studies of economical interchange and cultural aspect at that time. In order to solve the question, detailed studies were carried out on these samples, by means of chemical analysis by EPMA and X-ray powder diffraction method. The results leads to the following conclusion that Jaspers from many Historic Sites of Yayoi and Kofun ages in Izumo district are the burial materials originated from Hokuriku region. |
