Remark This study was supported through a grant from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan. After the period of governmental support expired, the study was conducted in collaboration with Hiroshima University Medical School and the Foundation for Biomedical Research and Innovation. The latter organization receives unconditional research grants from several pharmaceutical companies, including DAIICHI SANKYO CO., LTD., which is commercializing pravastatin. However, the company was not involved in the design and execution of this study. In addition, the company did not provide pravastatin for this study and has not reviewed the current manuscript.
