The structure of Japanese calf market, is very intricate, and possesses a striking regional character. This paper treats of the regional differences among the market prices of Japanese black calf, and of the role which livestock market openers play in the formation of those differences.
The first consideration will be given to the differences in calf price which are made among regions in the three typical producing districts, Chugoku-Kinki, Kyushu and Tohoku, the next to the development of market openers in each region and their types, and the third to the influences which market openers exert upon the formation of regional differences in the price.
