Descriptions |
To investigate whether continual consumption of Jin-Oh-Sui (mineral water) has an effect in improving triglyceride levels, we conducted a selfcontrolled study with 6 male and 5 female residents of Okuizumo-cho, Shimane Prefecture in February 2013. Among men, fasting triglyceride levels improved significantly over baseline levels after drinking Jin-Oh-Sui for 1 month (P<0.05). However, when Jin-Oh-Sui consumption was ceased over the following month, triglyceride levels rose again. In women, no improvement in triglyceride levels was seen with continual consumption of Jin-Oh-Sui.
However, body mass index at month 1 and 2 was significantly decreased compared with baseline (P<0.01). To confirm the effect of continual consumption of Jin-Oh-Sui in improving triglyceride levels, an intervention study with consideration of the intervention period, frequency, and intensity is necessary. |
