内容記述(抄録等) | Judaism is the base of Christianity and one of the sources of Western civilization. So the ancient Jewish music has an important significance to get a clue to the origin of Western music.
Since the destruction of the Second Temple (70 A.D.) , the Jews have formed the Oriental and European Jewish communities till quite recently. (Diaspora) This historical background of the Jews offers a convenient way for making the ancient Jewish music clear. Because the common elements among each Jewish community may contain the elements of Palestine before Diaspora. A.Z. Idelsohn (1882-1938) tried to extract the ancient and traditional elements of Jewish music from the geographical situation. The aim of this report is to make a comparative-musicological survey of "the melodic patterns and the modes of Jewish cantillation", quoting the Idelsohn's methodology. |
