寛文十一年（一六七一）、石見国吉永藩出身の十四歳の少年が摂津の芥川で父の敵を討つ事件があった。地元石見を離れた所でこの事件に関する実録が作られた時、実説が大きく組み替えられた上に、それぞれの作者の解釈に基づき、特色ある記述がなされていった。
