近世の飢饉や一揆について記した資料は、それぞれ固有の執筆意図に基づいて制作されている。その事件や事態の特徴や本質を把握し、それを後世の人々に的確に伝えるための配慮がなされている。一方で、事実を淡々と記録するという態度に徹したものもある。また、災禍の記憶を継承しようとする意識が近代にまで続いたことが確認できる。以上のことについて、近世山陰の資料を通じて考察する。
Written material describing famines and revolts during the early modern period, were produced based on the unique authorial intentions of an individual writer. Often, writers contemplated the characteristics and essence of an incident or situation, in order to fully grasp them, and accurately narrate the event to future generations. On the other hand, some of them were dedicated to simply recording facts in a straightforward manner. In addition, it can be confi rmed that the conscious desire of wanting to inherit the memories of disasters continued into the modern era. The above will be discussed through materials from the San'in region during the early modern period.
