島根県の昆虫目録(IV) : 鞘翅目(ゾウムシ科)

The purpose of this paper is to make more clear the insect fauna in Shimane Prefecture which is not well known until now. I already published a list of butterflies : 1962 (1), of longicorn beetles : 1963 (2) and of scarabaeoid beetles : 1964 (3) in this prefecture. This time I report on Curculionoidea.
Though this super family is known to be one of the largest in Coleoptera, we have only a few records of it so far collected in this prefecture, so that all its species described here are based on my small collection and the records or specimens of Mr. Charles YATES and a few others.
Most species of this group are injurious to plants and some in fact are noted as pests of usefull plants. I mentioned their food plants in each item.
Of some species listed on the basis of the other reports, I could not make a taxonomical study to identify them, and had to follow the original reports.
Roman figures show the month of appearance of adult scientific names are in accordance with Mr. NAKANE (7). A full date is given to the species of which only one individual was collected.
There are only 84 species of curculionoid beetles in this list : Anthribidae 2, Attelabidae 18, Apionidae 2, Curculionoidae 56, Rhychophridae 6. I hope that more species will be found to complete this list.
