Description
Handicapped area located in mountainous land is 69.0% in Shimane prefecture. Otherwise, for the promotion ofagriculture in Shimane prefecture, parts of Lake Nakaumi was reclaimed and another polder project is planed also there as making advantageous flatland. This research is about how is the present condition of polder farm and what is the question of it by the case study of Iya polder at Nakaumi. Questionnaire and interyiew to farmers were adopted by way of the investigations. The result is thatlarge-scale farmers to product cabbage, which is introduced as main crop in the polder, want to reduce scale and farmers to product another crop or to cultivate farmland near their house chiefly want to expand. There are some questions, such as low prices of agricultural products, high cost of land redemption, production and soil amendment, and so on. It means that merits of large-scale farm are not effect. It had better to introduce crops that are high prices of agricultural products though it becomes more labor-intensive farm.
