This paper deals witn the results of experiments on the Change of Catalase activity and the organic iron contents in Potato leaves infected by Phytophthora infestans.
The activity of the enzyme was measured by using hydrogenperoxide and Potassium permanganate methode, and the organic iron contents was determined by in-direct methode using Napyrrophosphate and Trichloracetic acid.
The comparative value of Catalase in leaves of resistant varieties, Kenebec or 42041-4, increased enomously at 24 hours after the inoculation of the causal fungus, and the organic iron contents also increased remarkably at 24 hours.
These result suggested that the changes of the catalase activity and the organic iron contents might play a significant role in the resistance mechanism.
