From the Recent marine sediments in the seas surrounding the Japanese Islands, a total of 1426 taxa of benthonic foraminifera have been documented by various workers. Except for the forms described as new or important, however, most of them are only recorded in the faunal lists.
The purpose of the present work is to provide a check list of Recent Japanese foraminifera which have been figured and listed for the years 1925 to 1981.
