Description
The object of the present study is to consider the essence of landscape gardening.
This paper contains three items of the garden and landscape gardening, architecture and landscape gardening, and the essence and phenomena of its form.
Landscape gardening is the art of arranging land and space with plants, stons, water, or others as a means of producing human mind ; it includes also site planning, land planning, high pleasure design, and environmental planning.
Garden is an enclosed piece of ground, a man-made, bounded outdoor area, beautifully designed with natural things, and it is ,generally called by the name, especially with an epithet attached to the beginning word.
The relationship between landscape gardening forms and countries is schematically shown in Figure 1.
In recent years mutual influences in different countries on the landscape gardening have become to be clearly seen ; the nationality and locality in the gardening, however, should be hold at their assured place.
That Japanese gardening becomes international does not mean to lose the intrinsic nature of gardening ; on the contrary, it means to become universal in the real sense of the word by developing its characteristic essence.
